On Saturday, April 27 from 10 am to 5 pm at the beautiful Benicia Marina and Waterfront, Benicia is going "Full Speed Ahead" when the city celebrates Opening Day on the Straits. The day is sponsored by the Benicia Yacht Club.
Arts and Crafts booths, children’s games and crafts, face painting, game truck, Opening Ceremony, Blessing of the Fleet, Youth Sailing and Race information, free vessel safety checks by the Coast Guard Auxiliary Vallejo/Flotilla 51, Opening Day Boat Parade, Festival and arts and crafts display on Benicia's Marina Green. A full slate of kids' events and various handmade arts/crafts will be on sale.
The Benicia Yacht Club is open to the public and first-year membership specials are available. This year's theme is "Full Speed Ahead", a positive message that was the brainchild of Daniel Rettig, Benicia's unofficial "Captain of the Straits."
About the Benicia Yacht Club
The Benicia Yacht Club (BYC) was founded in 1977, with a membership that includes boaters and non-boaters, both power and sail. BYC offers many social events and Club functions throughout the year, and its facilities are open seven days per week.
Advantageously located on the Carquinez Straight, midway between San Francisco and the Delta, and close to Napa Valley, members and their guests are treated to a variety of nearby conveniences unique to our area.
If traveling by boat, the well-equipped Benicia Marina is within walking distance to BYC, and Channel 16 is monitored. Fuel, pump out and docking are available.
